Green-winged Teal Anas carolinensis (1)

Asturies . The drake found at ria de la Villa, Villaviciosa, Asturies on 30.12.2010 was still there on 4.4 and 11.4 (Adolfo Villaverde).

(1) Gran Canaria The drake at San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Gran Canaria found on 19.2 was still at C charca del Matorral, same island where it moved on March on 1.4 (Miguel Avelino Suarez). (2) Lugo . There was a female at Laguna de Caque, Lugo, on 19.4 (David Calleja)

Goosander Mergus merganser (1)
Tarragona. There was a bird within Les Olles lagoon, Delta de l'Ebre, Tarragona on 20.4 (Jus Pérez Martín et al). Perhaps it's the bird seen last month at Platja de la Marquesa, not very far from the sighting site.

(1) Gran Canaria There was a bird at Taliarte, Telde, Gran Canaria on 2.4 (Miguel Avelino Suarez).

(1) Gran Canaria There was a pure individual, dark morph at Maspalomas pond, Gran Canaria, on 2.4, seen after some wind storm episodes coming from Africa (Miguel Avelino Suarez, Eugenio Hernández). See two photos below (M.Avelino).

Presumed Hybrid Western Reef x Little Egret Egretta gularis x garzetta (1)
(1) Tarragona. The Tancada adult hybrid was seen again on 1,4 (Cristian Jensen) at Tancada saltpans and on 9.4 (Josep Tantull, Roser Solé) at Trabucador sandbar, near the usual area. See a photo below and compare it with the above Canarian bird (Josep Tantull)

Lesser Flamingo Phoenicopterus minor (1,2)
Cuenca. The bird seen at at Manjavacas lagoon, Cuenca on 30.3 was still there on 2.4 (Alfonso López, Juan Diego Acevedo Barberá, Juan Carlos Marín Santos, Jose sp y Felix sp). See a thumbnail here (A.López López).
(2) Albacete. There was one at Pétrola lagoon, Albacete on 9.4 (Jana Marco, Julio Merayo & Álex Alamán). This bird remained in the lagoon on 11-12.4 associated with 800 Greater Flamingos (Rafa Torralba)
(3) Málaga. There were 3 at Fuentedepiedra lagoon, Málaga on 15.4 (Cristian Jensen/Audouin Birding Tours).

Pallid Harrier Circus macrourus (1)
(1) Girona One female was seen on 10.4 flying over Puig Rodó, Cap de Creus, Girona (Àlex Ollé & Marina Rodríguez).

Long-legged Buzzard Buteo rufinus (1,2)
(1) Gibraltar There was one on 10.4 over Gibraltar (GONHS via Ernest FJ Garcia)

(2) Cádiz A bird was at Marisma de Pozo Lozano, El Puerto de Santa María, Cádiz on 24.4 (Rafa García)

Eastern Imperial Eagle Aquila heliaca (1)
(1) Illes Balears On 27.4 a large eagle identified as Eastern Imperial Eagle was seen flying over Albercutx, Mallorca (Biel Bernat, Pep Manchado, Juanjo Bazán, Lalo Ventoso).Three small pictures could be obtained and show a large Aquila flying with a hill behind. See those three thumbnails here (Juanjo Bazán).

(1) Gibraltar There was one on 9.4 over Gibraltar that remained there until at least 11.4 (GONHS via Ernest FJ Garcia)

(1) Lleida On 2.4 one was seen at close range at Estany d'Ivars i Vila-Sana, Ivars d'Urgell, Lleida (Sergi Sales).First record for Lleida province.

(2) Tarragona On 4.4 one was found and photographed seen at close range at Sèquia Major de Vila-Seca, Tarragona (Albert Cama),See a photo below.

(3) Girona One bird was seen on 9.4 at Fangassos grans, PN Aiguamolls de l'Empordà (Jordi Martí-Aledo, Albert Roca, Daniel roca & Àlex Ollé).

(22-23) Girona On 22.4 there were two at Estanys del Matà, PN Aiguamolls de l'Empordà (Jordi Martí-Aledo, Àlex Ollé). These birds remained there on 24.4 (Jordi Martí-Aledo, Daniel Roca, Albert Roca; Gabriel de Jesús, Anna Mallol, Àngel sp).

(24-26) Cáceres On 1,4, three individuals were seen at Madrigalejo, Cáceres (Roberto Cabo & Uwe George). Read more in Spanish about this sighting at the Aves de Extremadura blog here.

(1) Tarragona. There was a bird near Migjorn area, Delta de l'Ebre, Tarragona on 22.4 (David Bigas; Josep Tantull & Roser Solé -independently-; Léa Beligné et al). See a photo below (Josep Tantull).

Long-billed Dowitcher Limnodromus scolopaceus (1)
(1) Tarragona. The juvenile found at Ebre delta, Tarragona on 2.10.2010 which has presumably overwinterd in the Delta, was seen again on 15.4 at Aufacada lagoon, first in the morning (Steve West et al) then by midday (Léa Beligné, Joan Barrachina et al) and in the afternoon (Ricard Gutiérrez). Seen again on 18.4 at the same site (Lluís Gustamante, Anette & Mischa Druener). The bird remained in the area on 22.4 (Josep Tantull, Roser Solé; Léa Beligné et al), see a thumbnail here, and on 24.4 (Vittorio Pedrocchi).The bird, almost in breeding plumage, was seen again on 30.4 evening from Aufacada tower, Delta de l'Ebre (Sergi Sales, Joan Antó, Carolina García & Ricard Gutiérrez).

(1) Lugo The 1w foudn at Burela harbour, Lugo on 28.3 remained there on 4.4 (Ricardo Hevia).
(2) Lugo There was a 2 cy one nautic mile off Celeiro harbour, Viveiro, Lugo on 12.4 (Ricardo Hevia).

Lesser-Crested Tern Sterna bengalensis (1,2-4,5)

Yellow-billed Tern 'Elegant-like' Sterna c.f. elegans (1-2)
(1-2) Valencia Two adult birds, one of those the individual that had been ringed in Valencia some time ago reached l'Albufera on 14.4 (J.I.Dies). On 26.4 the ringed bird was seen mating a Sandwich Tern (J.I.Dies). (1) Cádiz There was one at Los Lances beach, Cádiz, on 20.4 (S.Daly)

topoSPOTTED SANDGROUSE Pterocles senegallus (1) FIRST FOR SPAIN
Fuerteventura. A bird was heard and seen on 20.4 at La Pared, Fuerteventura with some Pterocles orientalis (Patric Lorgé). 'I saw it when driving from Costa Calma to La Pared and taking the way on the left when reaching the highest point of this road. Then I walked for 1 km towards the windmills and flushed the bird on the right side of the path around the small hill (a male Houbara showed well there as well)'. First for the islands and Spain.

Laughing Dove Streptopelia senegalensis (1)
(1) Illes Balears On 13.4 a bird was trapped and ringed at Cabrera island National Park, Illes Balears (José Luis Martínez, Juan Miguel González).

Little Swift Apus affinis (1-3,4,5-8)
Sevilla. There were three birds at a new location at Sierra Norte de Sevilla on 3.4 (Paco Chiclana).
(4) Cádiz. One bird was seen at Guadalquivir river mouth, Cádiz, on 18.4 (Cristian Jensen/Audouin Birding Tours).This bird might have been there on 16.4 (see below).

(5-8) Cádiz. There were five at Chipiona coast, Guadalquivir river mouth, Cádiz, on 16.4 (Pablo Barrena, Manuel Jiménez, Alberto Álvarez y Rafa García).One of those was presumably the bird seen on 18.4 (see above). Two of those remained there on 23.4 (Rafael García).

Lanzarote. A bird was found and photographed at Montaña Blanca, Lanzarote, Canary Islands on 9.4 (Juan Sagardía). It was later seen by Francisco Javier Garcia Vargas. Siberian Chiffchaff Phylloscopus collybita tristis (1,2)
Barcelona. A bird that had been found in late March by Ferran López at Cal Tet pinewood, Delta del Llobregat, Barcelona, was still there on 2.4 (Manolo García Tarrasón) and 10.4 (Vicente Esteller Turlo).

(2) València. On 1.4 a bird was trapped and ringed at Tancat de la Ratlla, Silla, València. See photos in the Gotur blog here (Pedro Marín et al).
