(1) Albacete There drake found at Pétrola lagoon, Albacete on 22.12.2013 remained there on 3.3 (Rafa Torralba)

(1) Gran Canaria . On 11.3 a drake was found at Campo de golf de Maspalomas, San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Gran Canaria, Canary is. (Co Dooms). (2) Navarra There was a bird at Embalse de las Cañas, Viana, Navarra on 21.3 (Diego Benavides) that remained in the same place on 22.3 morning (Ricardo Rodríguez).

(1) Pontevedra . The ♂ found on 18.2 at Arealoura, America beach, Nigrán, Pontevedra remained there on 1.3 (Karmelo de Dios).


Black-browed Albatross Thalassarche melanophris (1)

Presumed hybrid Western Reef x Little Egret Egretta gularis x garzetta (1,2)
(1) Valencia. The bird seen on 13-14.2 at Catarroja ricefields, PN Albufera de Valencia was seen again on 2.3 (Jana Marco, Alez Alaman). See a thumbnail here. (1) Cádiz. On 24.3 there was one at Tarifa, Cádiz, feeding on a carcase (José Antonio Sarrión; Javier Elorriaga et al)

(1) Murcia. The adult female seen on 29-30.1 at Marina de Carmoli, Mar Menor, Cartagena, Murcia was seen again on 4.3 (Richard Howard).

(1) Tarragona. There was a bird at Tancada Saltpans, Delta de l'Ebre, Tarragona on 14.3 (Jordi Martí-Aledo). This bird was seen again on 16.3 (Josep Tantull, Roser Solé). See a thumbnail here.

(1) Badajoz. The bird found at Puebla de Alcollarín, Badajoz on 30.12 was still there on 6.3 at arrozales de Palazuelo (Juan Pablo Prieto y Godfried Scherur).

Bonaparte's Gull Chroicocephalus philadelphia (1,2,3,4,5)
(1) Lugo The 3cy seen previously at Cedeira, A Coruña and Lago, Xove,Lugo remained in this last place on 2.3 (Luis José Salaverri).

GREY-HEADED GULL Chroicocephalus cirrocephalus (1) 4TH FOR SPAIN
(1) Madrid On 23.3 there was an adult at Pinto dump, Madrid, within a large group of gulls. See photos below and thumbnails here (Juan M. Ruiz).

(1) Málaga . The adult seen on 1.2, with ring HT 239.512 at Málaga harbour, Málaga was seen again on 1.3 (Salvador García). See photos below and thumbnails here.

(2) A Coruña . The adult seen in previous months named locally 'barrilete' was seen again on 9.3 at Nemiña beach,, Muxia, A Coruña (Xabier Varela, Fernando Pereiras).This bird was seen again, together with the 1w also seen previously, on 16.3 (Xabier Varela) and 17.3 (Cosme Damián Romay) and 23.3 (David Martínez Lago).This individual continued in the zone on 30.3 at Nemiña beach, Muxia, A Coruña (Cosme Damián Romay)

(3) A Coruña . The 1w seen in previous months at Nemiña beach and Lires beach, Muxia, A Coruña was seen again, together with the adult also recorded before, on 16.3 (Xabier Varela) and 17.3 (Cosme Damián Romay)and 23.3 (David Martínez Lago).

Caspian Gull Larus cachinnans (1-2,3)
(1-2) Girona
. On 8.3 there were at least two 1w/2cy at Solius dump, Girona (Carlos Álvarez-Cros). See two thumbnails here.

(3) Girona. On 14.3 a 1w with Polish yellow ring PNNS, was seen at Xunqueira do Lagares, Vigo (Rafa Salvadores). This same bird was seen last December in... Huelva!

(1) Lugo . The bird seen last month around Lago was seen on 2.3 at San Cibrao, Lugo (Luis José Salaverri). On 11.3 it was still around (Ricardo Hevia)
(2) Lugo There was a 2w at O Vicedo, Lugo, on 3.3. (Antonio Martínez Pernas). See a thumbnail here and a photo below. (1) Bizkaia. A 1w bird continued at Ondarroa harbour, Bizkaia on 1.3 (Juan Carlos Andrés), see a thumbnail here.

Ross's Gull Rhodostethia rosea (1) 4TH FOR SPAIN
(1) Pontevedra The 1w seen last month at Lagares river mouth, A Calzoa beach, Vigo remained there on 1.3 (Karmelo de Dios). On 11.3 it was still present at Lagares river mouth, Vigo, Pontevedra (David R. Sobreira).

Garden Bulbul Pycnonotus barbatus (1-3)
(1-3) Cádiz . On 19.3 there was one individual at Tarifa, Cádiz (David Cuenca, José Luis Garzón, Javier Elorriaga, Álex Colorado). Two birds were present on 23.3 (Teresa Militao, Francesc Cuscó, Vero Cortés, Irene Jiménez, Manolo Garcia y Álex Colorado; Nerea Franco). See a photo below and thumbnail here. The number raised to three on 25.3 (Pablo Barrena, Jorge Bellido y Alberto Plata) and might be the same individuals recorded last breeding season which colonized mainland Europe for the first time ever.

Desert Wheatear Oenanthe deserti (1)
(1) Bizkaia . The bird found at Muskiz beach, Bizkaia, on 4.12.2013 remained on the beach on 1.3 (Imanol Gómez) and 2.3 (Gorka Ocio).
Much to our surprise,the bird survived the heavy gales of early March and it was present on 19.3 at Playa de la Arena, Muskiz, Bizkaia (Gorka Ocio)

Eastern Subalpine Warbler Sylvia cantillans albistriata (1)
(1) Tarragona . On 31.3 there was an 'albistriata'-like ♂ with a well marked dark bib at El Trabucador, Delta de l'Ebre, Tarragona (Ricard Gutiérrez)

Paddyfield Warbler Acrocephalus agricola (1)
(1) Valencia . On 6.3 a bird was trapped and ringed at R.N del Tancat de la Pipa, Catarroja, Albufera de València (Pablo Vera; Bosco Dies, Toni Alcocer).See a photo below (Toni Alcocer).

topoYellow-browed Warbler Phylloscopus inornatus (1,2-3,4)
(1) Lanzarote Playa Bastián, Costa Teguise, Lanzarote. There was a bird in this area from 5-6.3 (Georges Olioso).
(2-3) Lanzarote Costa Teguise Golf, Lanzarote. There were still two birds at this area on 9.3 (Francisco Javier García Vargas). On 20.3 the wto birds were still there (Francisco Javier García Vargas).

(4) Fuerteventura The bird seen last month at Hotel Gorriones beach, playa Barca (28°08'09''N , 14°14'42''W), from 20-22.2 remained there from 15-18.3 (Eckhard Lietzow and Dieter Schmidt-König). See a photo below and two thumbnails here (Eckhard Lietzow).

Siberian-like Chiffchaff Phylloscopus collybita tristis 'like' (1)
(1) Granada On 1.3 a bird with some tristis features was seen and photographed at Charca Suárez, Motril, Granada (Juan Ignacio Álvarez Gil). There are two thumbnails here.
