topoTundra Bean Goose Anser serrirostris rossicus (1) cf 1st for Canary Islands
(1) Fuerteventura. There was a bird on 15.8 at a small pool at La Calabaza, Fuerteventura at 28.2488605, -14.108303 (Dr .Andrew J. Whitehouse). See two photos below. On 21.8, when the record was known, the bird was not there, and proof it was not coming from a nearby collection was obtained (Uca Díaz). According to local birdwatcher Marcelo Cabrera, the bird is present in the area since 7.8 and has been seen near a farm, recalling feral behaviour.

(1) A Coruña. A bird was seen from Estaca de Bares cape, A Coruña, on 13.8 (Daniel López Velasco @eBird, Antonio Sandoval et al).

topoAFRICAN DWARF BITTERN Ixobrychus sturmii (1) 5th for Canaries & Spain, 6th for the WP
(1) Fuerteventura. The bird found on 1.12.2017 at Rio Cabras gorge, SE of of Tesjuate, Fuerteventura, Canary Islands (28°28'32.7"N 13°54'11.0"W) was unexpectedly relocated at the rio Cabras gorge on 7.8 (Mathijs van Overveld, reported to be very hidden within the tamarisks (see a photo in site here). Seen again on 22.8 (Toni Alonso, Oriol Clarabuch, Maxi Santana).

nBrown Booby Sula leucogaster
(1) A Coruña. A bird was photographed on board of a fishing vessel on 29.8 30 nautic miles off Camariñas, A Coruña (Juan Antonio Salgueiro García). See a smartphone photo & thumbnail below.

(1) Cádiz. A bird was seen from Cazalla bird observatory, Tarifa, Cádiz, crossing to Africa on 9.8 (Diegui Herrera Ortiz @eBird).

Lanner Falco biarmicus
(1) Cádiz. On 4.8 an adult, presumed to be male, was seen flying over Tarifa, Cádiz (AJ Sepúlveda @eBird; Juan Miguel González Perea @eBird).

(2) Cádiz. On 4.8 an adult, probably male, bird was seen at La Janda, Cádiz (Fernando Enrique Navarrete @eBird).

(3) Cádiz. On 7.8 one adult was at Cádiz Bay Natural Park (José Márquez

(1) Málaga. An adult summer plumaged was seen at Desembocadura del Guadalhorce, Málaga on 7.8 (Armando Molina @ eBird), 9.8 (Maxime van Cutsem; 10.8 (Juan Ramírez @eBird; José Márquez), see photos below and a thumbnail here. Almost daily observations at río viejo lagoon, Desembocadura del Guadalhorce, Málaga the during the rest of August: 10.8 (Javi Elorriaga, Yeray Seminario @eBird), 12.8 (Miguel Domínguez-Santaella, Rafael García, Juan Ramírez @eBird), 13.8 ( Juanfra Jiménez, Miguel Domínguez-Santaella, Juan Ramírez @eBird), 15.8 (José Javier Aranda @eBird), 16.8 (Juan Carlos Granero @eBird), 17.8 (Ana Bernal, Antonio Tamayo @eBird), 18.8 (Blas López @eBird), 19.8 (Javier Cañadas @eBird), 20.8 (Carlos Ruiz Aguilar, Javier Elorriaga, Yeray Seminario; Juan Ramírez, Fabian Casas,José Luis Garzón, Andrés Rojas @eBird). . (2) Tarragona. The returning adult was seen again as in previous years at Migjorn grassfields, Sant Jaume d’Enveja, Tarragona, on 18.8 (Josep Tantull, Roser Solé). See a photo below. Seen also in the afternoon (Sergi Sales, Arnau Sales), see two photos below. On 19.8 it was still there (Lluís Gustamante; Harold Wijts; Mayca Martí) and on 20.8 too (Javier Subirats) and on 21.8 (Josep Tantull, Roser Solé), see another photo below. Seen again on 25.8 afternoon (Juan Carlos Albero; Josep Tantull, Roser Solé, Mariska Huub de Graaf, Manolo Sánchez Blanch, Salvador Solé, Sara Sánchez, Helena Arbonés, Ricard Gutiérrez, Gerard Gutiérrez, Ariadna Gutiérrez, Biel Fontbuté), see photos below and thumbnails here, but not on 26.8 morning due to works in the area.n Seen again on 27.8 (Irene Figueroa, 28.8 (Marc Gàlvez, José Guerra, Josep Tantull, Roser Solé, Sergi Sales) and 29.8 (Marc Gàlvez, Javier Robres @eBird), when present inside Buda island due to works in the grassfields. Back to the grassfields on 31.8 (Quique Carballal).

(3) Huesca. On 24.8 an adult bird in summer plumage was found at Embalse de La Sotonera, Huesca (Jorge Clemente). Later seen by more authors the same 24.8 (Aitor Mora, Jose M. Canudo) and afterwards: 25.8 (David Ardanuy; Jesús Lavedán; Alfredo Sánchez Galán; Rocío Sus; Jose M. Canudo ; Haritz Sarasa @eBird), 26.8 (Luis Gracia; Javier Paricio @eBird). (1) Cádiz. One was seen at Cadiz Bay Natural Park, at Salina de Carboneros on 6.8 (Fernando Gross; Manuel Bárcena –see a photo below and thumbnail here-), 7.8 (Javi Elorriaga, Yeray Seminario, José María Fernández Zapata, Rafa García @eBird; Birding the Strait, see a photo below), 8.8 (Jesús Díez, Juan Miguel González; Carlos Gutiérrez Expósito @ eBird), 9.8 (Pablo Barrena @eBird).

Elegant Tern Thalasseus elegans (1-2,3-4,5) HYBRID AND PRESUMED PURE PAIRS HAVE BRED
(1-2) Barcelona. On 31.7 two birds, an adult and a hybrid juvenile, were seen at Ca l'Arana beach, Llobregat Delta, Barcelona (Ferran López), see two photos below. On 1.8 they remained there (Ferran López, Jaume Bartra, César Castel @ Llobregat Delta Bird News).

(3-4) Cádiz. On 19.8 an adult and a presume hybird were seen at Chipiona, Cádiz (Paco Chiclana, Víctor Guimerà). See a photo below. On 20.8 it was seen again (Paco Chiclana). See a photo and a video below.The adult was seen again on 24.8 (José Mª Lubián R. de Agredano; Andres de la Cruz, Juan Miguel González Perea @eBird).

(5) Almeria. From 21.8 an adult has been seen at Punta Entinas, El Ejido, Almería (Raimundo Martín, Garry Pearson, see a thumbnail here). On 23.8 it was still there (Raimundo Martín, Garry Pearson,Manuel Sánchez).

Hooded Crow Corvus cornix (1-7)
(1-7) Barcelona. There were 7 birds together at cal Nani fields, El Prat de Llobregat, Barcelona, on 1.8 (César Castel , Ferran López @ Llobregat Delta Bird News) and two birds on 3.8 (Ferran López @ Llobregat Delta Bird News). There were 6 individuals on 6.9 (Ferran López @Consorci Delta Llobregat bird news), four on 7.8 (Ferran López @Consorci Delta Llobrgat bird news) and 7 on 10.8, all at the same place (Guillem Saguer @ 11.8 there were two at Cal Nani, El Prat de Llobregat and one at Ca l’Arana beach (Pau Rocabert On 12.8 four were at Cal Nani too (Pau Esteban, four too at Cal Negre, el Prat, on 14.8 (Ferran López, Sergi Bosch @ delta del Llobregat bird news) while one was seen on 15.8 at Cal Nani marshes, El Prat (Jonatan Cuadrado nOn 31.8 five were present at camí de la Marina, El Prat de Llobregat, two adults and 3 1w birds according to wing moult stage (Ricard Gutiérrez), see photos below..

(1-2) Sevilla . There were two adults at El Pantano, Los Palacios y Villafranca, Sevilla on 5.8 (Paco Chiclana). Both adults were building a nest on a Tamarisk tree, see a photo and a video below (Paco Chiclana). nThe two adults remaining doing courtship display at the same site on 30.8 (Paco Chiclana, Fernando del Valle).
