All birds featured are rarities needing homologation by the CR/SEO
See the information page for how to submit records to CR/SEO either by mail or online

From March 2005 this webpage only includes records of birds needing homologation by CR/SEO. For other local rarities contact local bird reports or records committees. See here rarities only for the Canary Islands also dealt by CR/SEO. Changes in application to the rarity list from January 2006. New rarities include Sylvia curruca, Crex crex and others. Larus delawarensis and Anthus richardi have been withdrawn from the rarity list and will not be included from 2006.

Egyptian GooseAlopochen aegyptiaca (1-2)
(1-2) Barcelona A pair was seen at Les Llobateres gravel pits, Sant Celoni, Barcelona on 19.5 (Javier M.O.). Both birds remained in the area on 24.5 (Ricard Gutiérrez). See a photo below (R.Gutiérrez)

Blue-winged Teal Anas discors (1)
(1) Pontevedra A male was seen at Junquera de Alba, Pontevedra on 1.5 (Rafael Albuín). See a photo here.The bird has been considered of dubious origin because of behaving a bit tame on 3 and 7.5 (Pablo A. Sanmartín).On 8.5 it was seen again and behaved wild, feeding on the aquatic vegetation (Cosme Damian Romai). See three thumbnails here


Pied-billed Grebe Podilymbus podiceps(1)
(1) Asturies The bird that was from 3.4 at San Andrés reservoir, Serín, Asturies was still at the same place on 3.5 (Nacho Vega).

Western-Reef Egret Egretta gularis(1,2)
(1) Sevilla A bird with the characteristics of a true gularis has bred with a Little Egret Egretta garzetta in a mixed heron colony at José Antonio Valverde information centre at Doñana National Park. It was first seen on 26.4 and has been recorded regularly since then and at least until 15.5 (John Butler)
(2) Tarragona The Tancada lagoon, Delta de l'Ebre presumed hybrid with egretta was seen again on 28.5 (Stephen Cristopher).

Lesser Flamingo Phoenicopterus minor (1-5,6)
(1-5) Málaga On 4.5, A CHICK of Lesser Flamingo was seen at Fuentedepiedra lagoon, Málaga. A pair therefore has breed for the first time ever in Spain (José Miguel Ramírez, Manuel Rendón).Seen five birds from the information center on 18.5 (Martin & Shelagh Coates).
(6) Ciudad Real An adult was seen at Laguna del Camino de Villafranca, Alcazar de San Juan, Ciudad Real, on 7.5 (John Muddeman et al). See a photo below (J.Muddeman). Still present on 12.5 (M.José Valencia, Pedro Bustamante, Xurxo Pinheiro)

Pectoral Sandpiper Calidris melanotos (1-2)
(1-2) Barcelona There were two birds at Ca l'Arana beach on 28.5 (Xavier Larruy ;Ferran López, Pau Esteban, S.Bosch) to 29.5 (F.López, M.Llobet). See a photo below (F.López)

Red-necked Stint Calidris ruficollis(1)
(1) Málaga On 15.5 an adult breeding bird was seen at Guadalhorce river mouth, Málaga (Andy Paterson, Robert Hopson, Joan Ximenis)

Broad-billed Sandpiper Limicola falcinellus (1)
(1) Tarragona A bird was found at Fangar bay, Delta de l'Ebre, Tarragona, on 13.5 (Josep Tantull, Roser Solé). See thumbnails here

Spotted Sandpiper Actitis macularius (1)
(1) Ciudad Real An adult in summer plumage was found at Laguna de Navaseca, Daimiel on 20.5 (Tomás Velasco). Not seen the following day (X.Pinheiro)

Red-necked Phalarope Phalaropus lobatus(1,2)
(1) Tarragona. On 5-6.5, one bird was at Punta de la Banya , PN Delta de l'Ebre, Tarragona (Jordi Ruiz-Olmo, Ferran Blanch)
(2) Salamanca A female was sseen on 16.5 at a lagoon near the road from Tamames to El Cabaco, Salamanca (Alberto Puente de la Rosa, Sara Candela). See two thumbnails here

Caspian Gull Larus cachinanns (1)
(1) Girona The same 2nd calendar-year bird seen since March was seen again on 7.5 at Pedret , Alt Empordà, Girona (Àlex Ollé).Seen again on 15.5 at the same place (Àlex Ollé).

Glaucous Gull Larus hyperboreus (1,2)
(1) Bizkaia On 18.5 the bird seen in March around Bilbao was located at Bilbao downtown, at La Peña area (José Luis Pacheco, communicated by Gorka Ocio). See a thumbnail here. Seen again on 23.5 at Jata dump, Bizkaia, now showing 1st summer plumage with heavy moult in secondaries and primaries (Maider Olondo, Jon Hidalgo, Gorka Ocio)
(2) Asturies The bird at ria de Zeluán has now stayed in the area for a year and remained there by 30.5 (Daniel López Velasco).See a photo below (D.L.Velasco)

Lesser-crested Tern Sterna bengalensis (1-2)
(1) Cádiz Two birds were seen off Tarifa island on 15.5 within Migres program counts. They were seen fishing along the coast and later flying East (María Mateos, Andrés de la Cruz, David Cuenca Espinosa).

Roseate Tern Sterna dougallii (1,2)
(1) Cantabria On 25.5 an adult was seen at Santoña by the bridge near the main entrance to the village (Serafín Alarcón, Juan Carlos Lorenzo; Ivan Sarabia, Juanma Domínguez, Jesús Menéndez). See a thumbnail here (S.Alarcón)On 31.5 it was still there (Juan Manuel Pérez de Ana)
(2) Asturies On 29.5 a bird was found at Zeluán, ria de Avilés, Asturies (Daniel López Velasco). Twitched intensively on 30.5 (Jorge Valella, M.A.Fernández, José Guerra, Pablo Menéndez, Manolo Pajuelo, Manuel Quintana, José Antonio García, Clemente A. Usategui, César A.Laó, Pedro J.Menéndez, Nacho Vega).

(1) A Coruña On 29.5 one bird was reported flying over Santiago de Compostela, A Coruña (Agustin Alcalde)

Black-headed Wagtail Motacilla flava feldegg (1)
(1) Girona A male was seen and photographed at Mollet de Perelada, Girona, on 8.5 in company of two thunbergi (Àlex Ollé). See a photo below and a thumbnail here

Collared Flycatcher Ficedula albicollis (1)
(1) Barcelona On 3.5 a male was seen at Gavà, Delta del Llobregat, Barcelona (Tomàs Montalvo)

Pied Crow Corvus albus (1,2)
(1) Pontevedra The bird present since 4.7.2006 at A Laxe de Rons area, O  Grove/Ogrobe, Pontevedra, Galicia was still around on 1.5 (Samuel Paz). On 5.5 the bird was seen ON A NEST paired with a Carrion Crow Corvus corone, so the species are currently breeding for the 1st time in Spain (Diana Fernández, Pablo Pita, Samuel Paz, Cosme Damian Romai).See two thumbnails here. (2) A Coruña At Cariño, A Coruña, one bird was seen on 3.5 (Ricardo Hevia) - 4.5 (Luz Fernandzez Miraz, Antonio Fernandez, José Miguel Alonso Pumar, Ricardo Hevia). This bird has a more massive bill than Pontevedra bird which is 159 km from the first one. See a photo below The bird was relocated on 22.5 at Concha beach, Cariño, A Coruña (Ricardo Hevia). Hooded Crow Corvus (corone) cornix (1-2,3)
(1-2) Girona The bird seen on January and February 2007 at La Gallinera ricefields, PN Aiguamolls de l'Empordà, Girona remained in the Empordà plain in early April when it was seen carrying branches together with a Carrion Crow C.corone corone, suggesting mixed pairing and it was later seen again at Sobrestany, Girona on 4.5 (Albert Burgas, Berto Minobis).A second new bird was seen at Pedret dump, Girona the same day (Berto Minobis, Albert Burgas, Albert Capsolinas, Marc Beltran)
(3) Barcelona A bird was seen at Cal Tet, Llobregat delta, Barcelona on 16.5 (Stephen Christopher). It was seen flying over the river and off towards Tibidabo mountain

(1) Asturies A bird was seen within a Spotless Starling S.unicolor flock at Verdicio, Cabu Peñes, Asturies on 24.5 (Manuel Quintana) and 25.5 (José Antonio García Fernández)Still present now at Ferrero, Cabu Peñes, on 26.5 (Manuel Quintana; Gorka Ocio, Javier Alvarez, Oscar Gutierrez, Hector Garcia, Leandro Arroyo, Cesar Urruela; Daniel López Velasco).
